Driveways & Groundworks in Morecambe & Lancaster

Holmes Construction undertakes driveway installations, concrete bases and groundworks across Morecambe, Lancaster and the surrounding areas. We handle projects of different sizes, with careful preparation and attention to the finished result.

Practical Surfaces Start With Proper Preparation

A driveway or concrete base needs to do more than look good when it is finished. The preparation, construction and drainage need to suit the ground conditions and how the surface will be used.

Lewis and the team take on driveway and groundworks projects for homeowners, discussing the proposed layout, materials and access before work begins. Whether you’re replacing an existing surface or preparing an area for something new, we’ll explain the work involved.

Our Driveway & Groundworks Services

Driveway Installation

A new driveway can improve access, provide useful parking space and bring a more finished appearance to the front of your home.

We’ll discuss the available space, the vehicles using it and your preferred finish. The proposed work will consider preparation, edges, levels and drainage, along with how the driveway meets existing paths and entrances.

Driveway Replacement

An existing driveway may no longer suit your needs, or its surface may have become damaged or uneven. Replacing it gives you the opportunity to reconsider the layout as well as the finish.

We’ll assess the existing surface and discuss what needs removing or preparing. Where there are problems beneath the surface, these need to be considered as part of the proposed work.

Concrete Bases & Slabs

Freshly laid concrete base running along a garden boundary wall, with a compacted stone edge beside it.

We construct concrete bases and slabs for suitable home and garden projects. The dimensions, thickness and construction need to reflect the intended use rather than treating every base in the same way.

Tell us what the base will support and share any relevant supplier specifications or drawings. We’ll discuss the site, access, preparation and finish required before quoting.

Ground Preparation & Excavation

Sub-base

Preparing an area properly is an important part of installing a new surface. Depending on the project, this may involve lifting existing materials, excavation and constructing a suitable sub-base.

We’ll assess what is required for the proposed work and explain the preparation included in the quotation. Access and the removal of excavated materials will also be considered.

Levels, Edging & Drainage

The details around a surface affect how it performs and how it looks. Edging helps define the finished area, while levels and drainage need to work with the surrounding property.

We’ll consider how the new work meets existing surfaces and how rainwater will be managed. Any drainage requirements should form part of the discussion before the installation begins.
