How we use the information you send us through this website.
Who we are
This website is run by Lewis Holmes, a sole trader trading as Holmes Construction, based in Morecambe, Lancashire. Lewis is responsible for the personal information described in this notice.

What we collect
When you send an enquiry through our website form, we receive:
- your name
- your email address
- your phone number, if you choose to give it
- the project location or postcode
- the type of work, if you choose one
- the details you write about your project
If you call or email us directly, we receive the information you choose to share in that call or email.
Please don’t include sensitive information, such as details about health, in your enquiry.
How we use it
We use your information only to reply to your enquiry, discuss your project, arrange a visit if needed and prepare a quotation. We do this because you have asked us to, before any agreement for work is made.
If we carry out work for you, we also keep the records of that job, which can include your enquiry, because the law requires us to keep business records for tax and accounting.
We do not sell your information or use it for marketing.
Who handles your information for us
- Netlify hosts this website and receives enquiries sent through the form. Each enquiry is stored in our Netlify account and a copy is emailed to us. Netlify, Inc. is based in the United States. Its privacy policy is at netlify.com/privacy.
- Google provides our Gmail account, where form enquiries arrive by email and where we receive and send other emails.
Like most websites, our host also processes technical information, such as your IP address, to deliver the website and protect it from abuse.
How long we keep it
Enquiries are kept in two places: our Netlify account and our Gmail inbox. We delete them by hand, as neither service deletes them automatically.
- Netlify: we delete enquiries from our Netlify account within one month of receiving them, once we have confirmed they have reached our email inbox.
- Enquiries that don’t lead to work: we delete these from our email within 12 months of our last contact with you.
- If we carry out work for you: we keep the records we need for the job and for our accounts and tax, for as long as the law requires. For sole traders this is at least 5 years after the 31 January tax return deadline for the relevant tax year. We don’t keep every email from your enquiry for that long; other enquiry emails are deleted within 12 months of our last contact with you.
Deleted emails stay in Gmail’s Bin for up to 30 days before they are permanently removed.
Cookies and analytics
This website does not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. When you send an enquiry, the website briefly stores a single marker in your browser’s session storage so it can show the correct confirmation page. It contains no personal details and is cleared when you close the browser tab.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. You can also object to or ask us to restrict how we use it. Contact us using the details above.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
